Drug Uses
Zanaflex is a muscle relaxant that is used to treat muscle spasms and increased muscle tone associated with spesticity. Zanaflex works by blocking nerve impulses.

How Drug Works
This medication is used to treat muscle spasms associated with spasticity.
How Taken
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of the medicine you are taking, talk with your health care provider. This medication can be taken with or without food. Do not stop taking this medicine or change the dose without checking with your health care provider. This could have serious adverse effects. If lightheadedness, dizziness, fainting, dry mouth, drowsiness or weakness occurs while taking this medication, contact your health care provider immediately. This medication may cause dizziness, lightheadedness or fainting, especially when rising or standing. If these symptoms should occur, sit or lie down and contact your health care provider. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination or physical dexterity. Avoid alcohol and other medicines that may cause drowsiness (such as benzodiazepines, baclofen) while you are taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you are taking an oral contraceptive. Your doctor may have to adjust the dose of this medicine. Lab tests or exams may be required to monitor treatment. Be sure to keep appointments. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking this medication. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor.

- fatigue; tiredness
- constipation
- vomiting
- speech disorder
- blurred vision
Warnings/Precautions
Before using this medicine, tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding; if you are taking birth control pills; if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine; if you have any other medical condition.
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to any ingredient in this medicine.
Overdose
For emergencies, seek medical attention immediately. For non emergencies, contact your local or regional poison control center.
Drug Interactions
Talk to your doctor if you are taking certain antibiotics such as erythromycin, clarithromycin or azithromycin. This medicine should not be taken with MAO inhibitors.
Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
Storage
Store between 59 to 86 degrees F.
Pregnancy/Nursing
If you want to breast-feed, talk to your doctor to discuss risks to your baby. Consult with your doctor before taking this medicine during your pregnancy.
